De-Clutter Time
If you’re feeling the urge to clear out the clutter, you’re in for something great! Did you know that by simply cleaning out one “junk drawer,” you’ll likely find a solution for that issue taking up space in your brain at the same time?
Here’s how it works. You find yourself in “stuck-ville” and can’t move yourself out. STOP doing the mundane staring or scrolling you’re doing now (well, after you read this blog, of course) and step outside. The idea here isn’t to simply catch some vitamin d, so don’t fret if weather conditions aren’t ideal. We need you to breathe deeply, and take in some new oxygen. We need you to exhale out some stale energy trapped in your body. Much like that broken pen and dull box cutter that needs to be replaced, your body holds onto unnecessary debris. At its worse, this clutter within the body can cause dis-ease with the rejuvenating flow of the body. We all know what this eventually causes. (Sickness!)
We may need it someday, right?
When you go back inside, things have shifted a bit, and you can take another small, simple step forward. My vote is to clean something small (kitchen sink comes to mind), stretch something tight (hamstrings come to mind) or make a phone call (something simple, not figuring out someone’s attitude). Shifting your focus from what needs to be done can help infuse energy into the task to come. Now we are ready to take on that de-clutter project.
Have you ever experienced FREEZE mode, where you’re simply stuck and cannot take a next, best step toward anything? De-cluttering may seem like too big of a task, when you’re in this mode. I’m affirming your feelings when I say, remember it IS just a feeling. Yes feelings are valid, and yes they have something to tell you. They also flow in and out of us, if we let them. The next time you feel stuck but de-cluttering something is a goal that’s way too far away? Here are some mini steps to get you there. (Tried and true, by me.)
Eat Protein (nuts, seeds, hard-boiled egg, piece of meat, tofu, or some spinach)
Get Sunlight (go outside even if it’s overcast. Even when we can’t see it, the sun is there.)
Bilateral Stimulation (Use both sides of your brain. An easy way is to put your hands in front of you, and open one to the left, with eyes following, and then to the right.)
One Small Action (declutter that drawer!)
This was part of a complete kitchen overhaul. Save these for when you need a big change or shift in your life. Remodeling a room of your home can shift the energy of your entire life. Magic!
